Now that they've got a face....

...the main stream media (MSM) picks up the Wikipedia story in a big way. They editorialize, "Readers must be skeptical of truth on the Web." Of course, readers must be skeptical of the truth everywhere.

First Wikipedia edit

I just made my first edit to Wikipedia. It was small. I added a link to George Markowsky's paper Misconceptions about the Golden Ratio to the Wikipedia article about the Golden Ratio. It sure is easy. You can do it too. George teaches at Orono. He's written articles for Encyclopedia Britanica

In spite of a recent declaration coming out of a Wikipedia editing controversy, it didn't require me to register before I made the edit. I'll be interested to see if it lasts.

Talkabout

Since 1999 I've had a blog hosted at editthispage.com. A couple months ago they informed me that they "will no longer be providing free EditThisPage.Com Manila site hosting. Sites will stop running as of December 1, 2005." Here it is December 2 and it's still there, but I figure it won't be for long. So I've moved the site to a new location. I won't be adding any more to the site, but there are some pages I wanted to keep available and the easiest thing was to move the whole thing. I used WinHTTrack - free and fairly easy to work with - to download the site. Not all the links work but there is at least one copy of each page that does work.
